Difference between real and fake £20 notes?

A guide to spot fake 20 pounds.

Protect yourself from fake login pages

Using fake login pages is the easiest way to hack passwords. Identifying a fake login page is very easy but many people neglect to do some small checks before entering the login details and fall in the trap. I have seen a person paying 500$ for a fake login page of paypal. This proves that there are still people falling in this trap. This is just an example, there are many fake websites of banks, yahoomail, gmail, orkut, myspace etc …
This post is an attempt to show what a hacker does to hack your password using fake login pages and how to protect yourself from those fake logins.I will try to keep this post as simple as possible, there may be some technical details which you can safely skip.
Warning: I strongly advice you not to try this on anyone it may spoil your relation with the person on whom you are trying it and you may even end up behind the bars.

What goes on behind when you enter your login details in login form??

When you enter your login details in any login form and hit enter they are submitted to another page which reads these login details and checks the database if you entered the correct username and passowrd, if yes then you will be taken to your account else you will get an error page.

What an hacker does??

A hacker creates a fake page which looks exactly same as the original page and some how tricks you to enter your login details in that page. These login details are then submitted to a file.At this stage the hacker has two optionsHe can either store the login details on his server or he can directly get them mailed to his email id. All the above said things happen behind the scenes, you will have no clue of it. When you enter you login details for the first time your details are submitted to the hacker and you will be directed to a error page ( this is the original error page). When you enter ur login details again you will be logged in to your account. It’s quite common for us to enter the login details wrongly sometimes so you will not become suspicious when you get the error page.

How to identify fake login page traps ?

1. Never enter you login details in unknown sites.
2. Always type the address directly in to the browser.
3. Do not follows the links you get in mails and chatting even if they are from your friends
4. Always have a keen look in the address bar and verify if the address is correct. Check the screen shot below. Some people buy doamins which look simliar to the original site example: 0rkut for orkut, pay-pal for paypal, yahooo for yahoo. Some times you may over look these small differences and fall in trap.
5. Please do report to the hosting site or the original site owner when you find a fake login page.
6. If you feel like you entered your details in a fake login page change your password immediatley.

New Xbox 720 real or fake?

The fact is, Microsoft haven't released any images of the Xbox 3, or 720 as the case may be - everything you see until further notice is fake. They probably haven't even built a prototype yet.

Fake Gucci phone

Now this is one piece of bling tech that we could all do without - a cloned Gucci phone from China that comes coated in fake gold, how apt for a fake handset! You get the Gucci emblem plastered on all sides, a 2.1" 16 million color QVGA display, an integrated FM radio, a 2 megapixel camera, and a microSD memory card slot. It comes in a (naturally) fake Gucci box as well as a certificate of authenticity - how ironic!

How Fake Is Your PC?

"Personal computers are getting faker. The percentage of counterfeit components is growing steadily, if unevenly. Fake components make PCs cheaper. The downside is declining reliability, safety and performance. Is it even possible to keep it real?

A massive crackdown at U.S. and European airports during two weeks in December yielded some 360,000 fake electronic components worth $1.3 billion, including phony Intel chips and about 40 other major brands. The raids were announced last Friday.

Such high-visibility busts mask the difficulty in stopping counterfeit components.

The problem, in a word, is: China. Murky and Byzantine supply chains, lax enforcement of weak intellectual property laws and an outlaw manufacturing culture all contribute to widely available fake PC components mixed together with legitimate parts in the PC components supply chain.

China is the world's leading manufacturer of, well, just about everything. And it's also counterfeit central -- more fake products of all kinds come from China than from the rest of the world combined.

The growing counterfeits problem is the dark side of the incredible cheapness of PCs these days. The driving force is consumers and businesses who view PCs as commodities to be purchased based on price, rather than quality and reliability. Declining margins force OEMs to seek ever cheaper suppliers, which in turn seek out less expensive components. Often, the cheapest part is the fakest part.

It's possible to buy a fully counterfeit PC and think it's original equipment. The Alliance for Gray Market and Counterfeit Abatement (AGMA) says one in ten IT products sold is fake. But even a computer sold legitimately by a brand-name outfit might have a counterfeit motherboard. And even if the motherboard is real, various chips and parts on that board might be fake."

Fake Paypal email and Paypal website

Be aware of phishing sites!

"Look at this screen shot of the Paypal website… or more precisely a fake Paypal website. How clever is the thief? The website looks exactly the same as the authentic Paypal website except the URL.

In this case the URL is so much longer and has a folder called “paypal.com” in it. Luckily Firefox is smart to sense that this is a fake or the so called phishing website and warned me just in time before I tried to sign in. If I was foolish or careless to enter my real Paypal username and password, those people who operate the phishing sites will have access to my account and all the money from my checking account and credit cards. Think about it also make me sweat!"

How to Detect Fake US Money?

The U.S. government estimates that less than 1/100 of 1 percent of U.S. paper currency in circulation is counterfeit. Considering recent advances in printing technology and the obviously vast incentive to counterfeit bills, that's a pretty small number. In part, that's because the U.S. Secret Service thoroughly investigates all reported counterfeiting cases, and because there are harsh criminal penalties for counterfeiting or passing fake bills. Perhaps more than anything, though, counterfeiting is difficult because of the bills' security features, which are hard to reproduce but easy to use to verify your money's authenticity.

How to Spot Fake Armani Clothes?

The brand Armani is synonymous with true elegance. No other designer embodies classic lines and exquisite materials like Armani does. From his beautiful men's suits to his detailed evening gowns, his clothing is always classic, graceful and well-made. The Armani brand is broken down into several individual lines, catering to different markets. What is the difference between a fake and a reproduction telescopes?

Pony Express This scope was sold on ebay for $280.00 to an unsuspecting buyer. The aged green patina is fake and the overall condition of the scope is poor enough to make it pass for real in a photo. Unfortunately, rarely does a week go by without at least one "Pony Express" telescope on ebay along with many other "Wells Fargo" items. The seller usually claims that they bought the item at an "estate sale", and therefore know nothing about it. Some of the more unscrupulous sellers use private auctions, which hide the identity of prospective buyers, making it impossible to warn them. There is a brass or copper plate on this scope saying "Pony Express Est. 1860 Property of C.O.C.&P.P. Express Company." The label alone should have warned the buyer, since it is highly unlikely that companies plastered their name all over every tool used by their employees. This is reminiscent of items marked "HMS Titanic" or "Orient Express." Closed, it is about 3 inches and opened, a little over 6 inches. The new glass objective and the low power both betray this item, but these cannot be seen in the ad.

Fake Chinese Cars

You’re probably wondering ‘Whats the point of this?‘ Well, the car (actually, just a shell on fixed axles that can be rotated on the spot) belongs to a wedding photography studio. You see, many a young Chinese couples would love to have a real classic Ferrari to sit in whilst they have their wedding photos taken overlooking dramatic mountains and sea scenes, but it just isn’t possible, hence the fiberglass mock up.

Fake iPhones Exploited - Counterfeit iPhones Discovered

Some of us have had a chance to see a fake iPod or maybe read about them online. Well, what about a fake counterfeit iPhone? Yes, they have fake iPhones in China which are poor examples of the real iPhone. Shown in the images on this post are several examples of fake “iClone” iPhones mainly from China. It seems most of them run a “bootleg” version of windows mobile or what appears to be Windows mobile from the splash screen that it displays upon start-up. Many sites have sold these devices for much less than the real Apple iPhone and have legitimately gotten away with it.

Motorola Bluetooth accessories vs nasty Asian fakes

Can you spot the fake? Motorola hopes so

Motorola has an interesting campaign on, showing the fact that it is tough to spot the difference between genuine Motorola Bluetooth accessories and nasty Asian copies.

There are some cool test sheets doing the rounds in Asia, with side-by-side shots of legit and fake H500 and H700 units, as well as a fully packaged H700. The sheet has a peel back face so you can make your guesses, then reveal whether you got it right or wrong.

Why not give it a try? Answers below the fold.

The Chinese Could Fake Everything

It has been a hot debate on the recent Olympic Opening Ceremony faking issue in Beijing, China. The cute looking little girl who sing for the opening ceremony is nothing more than an lip-syncher while the actual singer is someone else who didn't look as cute as she is.

Part of the spectacular fireworks broadcast to the work is pre-recorded and it is not 100% live! It looks like these faking job has become part of the Chinese culture. Everything is made to looks perfect but it is not exactly real.

'It's for the nation's interest',
A rather simple reason given behind all those faking things happen which has tricked billions of people worldwide into believing.

Now as the government could do fake things to the world, I couldn't imagine how the they could curb all the counterfeit issues which is highly famous in China!

China Fake USB Thumbdrive

You've heard about it but has you seen it? The infamous fake USB Thumbdrive from China news which has been circulating over the internet some years ago.

Well, they do have some creativity but it was used in the wrong way, the evil way!

Sony 32GB, 64GB, 128GB USB Thumb Drive

Take this! I bet your eyes will pop up and your saliva will be dripping non-stop looking at the amount of space offered by these new thumbdrive. A freaking 128GB!
Now, the highest capacity of USB Thumb drive in the market now is only 16GB, what makes you think that Sony could produce 128GB thumb drive when thumbdrive is not even Sony's core business. They're not the leading expert in making thumb drive.

I had once buying a Sony 2GB USB Thumb drive a few years back but found out that it could only store 1GB of data although it register having 2GB of space in the computer. The same thing like these new 128GB thumb drive, it does register with 128GB of space in the computer but when you start pumping data into the drive, eventually some of the data will not be retrieveable.
Sony 4300mAH, 4600mAH, 6400mAH Rechargeable AA Battery

Please bare in mind that the maximum capacity for AA size rechargeable battery is only 2700mAH! Perhaps the Chinese like the brand SONY so much that the start producing these fake Sony rechargeable battery.
They can be easily available on Ebay or other online stores. Myself also almost fell into this trap when I wanted to but myself a set of rechargeable battery for my camera. Luckily I manage to cancel the order before its too late.

China Fake Money

I know many country in the world has this fake bank notes problem. Even our own Bolehland is not spared. But when I went to China, the fake money problem is just some common issues they had on daily basis. Try walk to a roadside stall, buy something with a $100 note and get the change from them. Chances that you may get some fake notes were there. So, if you were to buy things from the road side stall, make sure you have enough small money to prevent your change into fake money. You could spend the large amount of money notes at some reputable stores but that also wasn't a guarantee!

Fake Camera Film

Well, several years back during my trip to Shanghai, China. I was using a film camera because my digital camera freeze up as the temperature was only about 5 degrees C. I was told not to buy camera film at the small booth in certain area because it is known that some people there sells fake camera film!
You would only realize that it is fake when you bring it to a shop to do the photo printing. Its only some plastic film which is inside the roll, not a real negative film!

Movie Piracy

Well, movie piracy happens everywhere but in China, things could gone to a level some other country wont find. Not only you would find original movies being pirated, you would also find movies which never existed sold in the DVD shop there. I mean, how would you like your favourite movie idol appear in some photoshoped movie title cover which never existed, lol!

Apart from that, there are just too many cases of fake and counterfeit things which happens in China that made into the news headline. I still remember the scary fake milk powder news which reported few years ago. Infants was severely suffered with malnutrition and some even killed by those irresponsible people who made those fake milk powder just for the sake of making money.

Fake or Real Diamond?

Buying a diamond for the first time is a very personal and exciting experience. Hands down, the first thing on the mind of the buyer will be: How can I know I am buying the real thing and not a fake?

If you have been given a beautiful diamond or heirloom and you want to be absolutely sure that your diamond is real, get a professional appraisal. This can be done by looking under "Jewelry" (Appraisal) found in your yellow pages. Call to inquire about their services and ask these two important questions:

1. Will I be able to accompany my jewelry at all times or will you take my jewelry to evaluate elsewhere? If they say they will need to separate your jewelry from you at any point, it would be wise to find another appraiser.
2. What is the fee? ($50.00-$75.00 is considered a good fee.)

If a professional appraisal is not within your limited budget, here are some other methods.

1. If you have access to a diamond tester, you can test for diamonds vs. simulants. (Beware, moissanite is the only stone than can fool the electronic diamond tester.)
2. The transparency test. Flip your diamond upside down and place it over some newsprint. If you can clearly read through the stone, it's not a diamond. (Beware, some low cut diamonds or stones such as emeralds can be read through.)
3. The fog test. Put your diamond in front of your mouth and fog it like you would fog a mirror. If it stays fogged for 2-4 seconds, it's a fake. A real diamond will disperse the heat instantaneously so by the time you look at it, it has already cleared up. Oil and dirt on the stone can affect reliability and the test is not accurate at all on doublets where the top of the stone is diamond and the bottom is cubic zirconia glued together.
4. Test for weight. The most popular diamond simulant (fake) is a cubic zirconia. C.Z.'s will weigh approximately 55% more than diamonds for the same shape and size. Use a carat or gram scale to see if the impostor tips the scales too much.
5. The U.V. test. Many diamonds will show fluorescence of blue if put under an ultra violet light or black light. 99% of all fakes don't do this; so, a positive identification of medium to strong blue would indicate a diamond. Diamonds with blue fluorescence can be as much as 20% less valuable; however, lack of blue fluorescence doesn't mean it's a fake; it could be a better quality diamond.
6. The under the loop test. With a magnifying lens, there are some things you can look for on the stone that might give away its identity:
1. Look at your diamond from the top and see how the facets (the cuts on top of the diamond) are joined. They should be sharp but not rolled.
2. Is the girdle faceted or frosty (yes, then it's a diamond) or waxy and slick (yes, then it's a fake.)
3. Under magnification, look into your diamond for flaws (carbon, pinpoints, small cracks.) It's very hard to put inclusions into a fake.
4. Look at the stamps inside the setting. A stamp of "10K, 14K, 18K, 585, 750, 900, 950, PT, Plat" indicates the setting is real gold or platinum. This gives a better chance that the stone in it is real as well. Look for any "C.Z." stamps. This will tell you the center stone is not a diamond.
